James D. Julia summer Auction Hits a Cool Million

Julia’s recent toy, doll & advertising auction hit just above the million dollar mark against a pre-auction estimate of items sold of approximately $750,000. Results were a clear indication that buyer optimism is up, especially for fresh to the market quality goods that are conservatively estimated.

The auction boasted a stellar offering that ranged from early American tin horse drawn pieces to American and European clockwork automotive toys, pedal cars, fine French & German dolls, antique advertising, coin-op, salesman samples, music machines, and much more.

COCA Members meet in North Carolina for Regional Gathering

Members from North Carolina and Virginia met in Greensboro on Sunday May 20 for the Southeast COCA annual gathering.  Host Darrell McCall welcomed the group to his home with plenty of refreshments and food.

A pool side picnic was followed by a tour of his residence.  Everyone was amazed at his huge collection of restored jukeboxes and wall speakers.  Darrell also collects vending machines, slots, pinballs and some cool old cars.

Darrell first started out collecting records.  He has amassed thousands of them in all genres.  All of his jukeboxes are functional, and filled with parts of his great music collection.  It was great fun to listen to the memories.

Members spent the afternoon swapping stories and getting to know one and other better.  North Carolina members Mike and Pat Gumula will be hosting the 2013 Southeast Regional COCA Gathering.

Thanks  Darrell for hosting the 2012 gathering and sharing your lovely home and great collection.
